United’s Terland pummels PSV with treble in Women’s Champions League qualifying
Second qualifying round, semi-final: Man Utd 4-0 PSV
Celin Bizet also scores while Julia Zigiotti Olme impresses
Manchester United began their quest to qualify for the Women’s Champions League by cruising to a 4-0 victory over PSV as Elisabeth Terland scored a hat-trick and the midfielder Julia Zigiotti Olme impressed on her debut.
Terland’s classy treble, which was accompanied by a close-range finish from Celin Bizet, guaranteed Marc Skinner’s side some form of European football because their worst-case scenario would now be a place in the new second-tier Women’s Europa Cup. Their aim, however, is to join Arsenal and Chelsea in the Champions League and, on Wednesday’s evidence, they have a strong chance of doing so.
