Bruno Guimarães punishes Fulham to keep Newcastle’s European hopes alive
There were times when Newcastle appeared to be on the brink of collapse at Craven Cottage. A makeshift back four wobbled, another player went off injured and Martin Dubravka’s goal lived a charmed life for much of the first half.
Yet this was a classic demonstration from Newcastle of how to dig deep and snatch a crucial win on the road. A game that began with Eddie Howe’s side in survival mode ended with them still hopeful of qualifying for Europe after Bruno Guimarães punished Fulham’s profligacy with a clinical late goal.
