Loïs Openda strikes twice as RB Leipzig end Leverkusen’s unbeaten league run

Bayer Leverkusen’s 35-game unbeaten Bundesliga run came to an end at home on Saturday, as visiting RB Leipzig came from two goals down to snatch a 3-2 win.

Loïs Openda’s double helped Leipzig become the first team to beat Leverkusen in the Bundesliga for 462 days, since VfL Bochum beat them 3-0 on the last day of the 2022-23 season. Marco Rose’s side have won their first two games, are unbeaten in 13 league matches, and showed their own title credentials with victory at the BayArena.
