Team GB men’s football team back on the Olympic table for Los Angeles 2028

British men’s team played at London Olympics in 2012Any move needs agreement of four football associations

The British Olympic Association wants a Great Britain men’s football team competing at the 2028 Los Angeles Games. Andy Anson, the BOA’s chief executive, said he “dearly wanted it to happen” and it is understood the Football Association is keen.

It will, though, take supreme diplomatic skills to convince the Scottish, Welsh and Northern Ireland football associations, given their previous hostility to a men’s team coming together under one umbrella to play at the Games.
